Deck of Scarlet: My review

Hi makeup addicts! I hope you are having a good start to the week!

I just received the current Deck of Scarlet palette so I had to post a blog about it! For those of you that are new to this subject, Deck of Scarlet is a company that offers a subscription makeup palette service! You receive a new unique limited edition palette that was curated by a YouTuber every other month for $29.95. The service allows you to skip months as well, in case you aren’t keen on a particular palette! It is a relatively new subscription service, having only launched last year, but it is already very popular with makeup enthusiasts!

I heard about it from watching a Vlog by Melly Sanchez and immediately loved the concept and design of the product. I finally subscribed to it this month and the ‘Deck’ I received is curated by Sonjdradeluxe, another one of my favourite vloggers.

The Palette

The packaging for the palette is elegant and simple, as you can see above. When you open the actual palette, this is what you will see:

Each palette will contain 3 eyeshadows, a blusher/bronzer, a highlighter, 2 lip colours, a lip liner and an eyeliner. That’s a lot of makeup for the price! I have already tried the makeup in one of my looks and I have to say, the quality of the palette is second to none.

These are the swatches for every element:

In the first image, from left to right is the lipstick in Scrumptious, highlighter in Shimmy Shimmy Ya, blusher in Montego Bay and lipstick in Wu. In the second image, from the top is eyeliner in Anarchy, eyeshadows in Maya, Eh and Black Roses and lip liner in Heartless.

The Products

All the products are very pigmented and their staying power throughout the day was brilliant. Even by the evening, my lip liner was still in place and vivid and the lipstick was still visible. The powder products are beautifully soft and buttery and they blend on the skin easily leaving a lovely silky finish. The eyeliner is an intense black and both of the liners are super soft so they can be as defined or as smudged as you want.

The 2 lipsticks are very smooth and creamy and can be sheer on the lips or built up to a more opaque finish. They aren’t matte colours in this palette, more like creamy glosses, but they don’t dry the lips and can be blended together too. You can also use the blusher as an eyeshadow and the highlighter on the eyes, in the inner eye corner and under the eyebrows for brightening.

All in all, this is a terrific palette for the money! I think Sonjdradeluxe has created a gorgeous set of colours that really work well together on all skin tones. If you are a crazy makeup junkie like me, you should definitely try this subscription service – sign up here: Deck of Scarlet. The great thing is that you’re only paying $29.95 every other month, you can skip a palette if you need/want to and you can cancel the service at any time. So why wouldn’t you try it? I can’t wait to see what they will bring out next!

I hope you enjoyed this blog! Don’t forget to subscribe to stay up to date with my makeup antics and feel free to leave comments and questions below!
