My TK Maxx Finds – A Treasure Trove for Beauty Lovers!

Hello, makeup fans!

As it is already approaching March and the onset of Spring and Spring makeup changes, I thought it would be helpful to share my thoughts about a great place to find beauty products – TK Maxx! It was on a trip to Newmarket visiting one of my closest friends that I discovered how amazing the beauty section of TK Maxx actually is! Since then, I periodically visit my local TK Maxx stores to see what new beauty finds they have in stock. Often, they will carry well-known medium to high-end brands for excellent prices, so it is always worth a trip!

On this occasion, I found some lovely products that were too good to miss! Here’s what I picked up:

  • Loreal’s Colour Riche La Palette Gold
  • Max Studio’s Eye Companion
  • Nyx High Voltage Lipsticks
  • Flawless Mini Makeup Blenders
  • Isabella Scott’s Highlight & Contour Brushes
  • Revlon’s ColorStay Under Eye Concealer

The Colour Riche Palette

I had seen this palette in other stores and couldn’t decide whether I really wanted it! When I came across it in TK Maxx for less than full price, I decided it was a sign and purchased it! It’s a slim palette containing 10 eyeshadows in jewel tones which is perfect for the Winter. Each eyeshadow is smooth and reasonably creamy, and the pigmentation is pretty good! The colours apply and blend well although there is some fallout. They will last for a few hours without fading or bleeding around the eye though. Overall, it’s a decent addition to any makeup kit and you can create quite a few looks just from this one palette.

Max Studio

I had never seen or heard of Max Studio before this trip to TK Maxx but having visited other stores, it is a regularly stocked brand. I liked this palette because of the neutral colour selection and its size. The palette also came with an eye look inspiration leaflet which is always a useful addition to any palette! The eyeshadows are actually very good quality and buttery! The colour pay off is also good, as can be seen from the swatches. There is very little kickback when using them and it’s the ideal palette for creating simple daytime looks or a subtle smoky eye. I will definitely try other products by Max Studio now I have tested this one!

Nyx’s High Voltage Lipsticks

These lipsticks were a fab find! There were a number of colours to pick from in store, but I chose these 4 as they were super pigmented and perfect for all occasions! Nyx is a well-known, affordable and popular brand which can be found in many places now, but TK Maxx had reduced the price of these lipsticks even further! The texture of each one is so soft and creamy, like a lip balm, but the colour is opaque once applied. Your lips stay soft and hydrated throughout wearing and reapplication is only needed after eating. All in all, they are lovely and due to their smaller size, they are great lipsticks on the go!

Mini Makeup Blenders

I love mini blenders like these! They are perfect for applying correctors, concealers and powders on the smaller, harder to reach areas of the face! My main use for them is under the eyes and on my T-Zone. I was thrilled to get 4 of them in this pack and whilst they aren’t the traditional Beauty Blender mini sponges they are just as good. The texture is reasonably soft, so they can be manipulated to apply in tricky spaces. As they are so small they are also easy to clean and take very little time to dry! I have a ton of these mini blenders now and highly recommend trying them if you never have.

Isabella Scott Makeup Brushes

These brushes came together in a set. I had never heard of Isabella Scott brushes before buying these and have not seen any others by her since, but I loved the shape of these brushes, so I bought them.

The Highlighter Brush

The first one is the highlighter brush. It has a C curved brush head which is designed to fit over the tops of the cheekbones. The second brush is the contour brush which has a wave shape to fit the bottom of the cheekbones and the hollows of the cheeks. Out of the 2, the contour brush works best. The bristles on both are quite soft but retain their shape, however trying to ensure there is product on the entire highlighter brush is tricky because of the C shape! It does fit the upper cheekbones nicely though.

The Contour Brush

The contour brush is much easier to use and when you dip the brush into a powder contour the powder will distribute across the entire brush head. When you apply the contour, the shape of the brush head fits the face’s shape well and all you need to do after the application is ensure there are no harsh edges. That being said, I would not use the entire brush head if using a cream contour as the result would be too heavy and difficult to blend out.

Generally, I like these brushes and they are sturdy and well made. However, if I could choose which one to buy rather than the set, I would only buy the contour brush!

Revlon’s Under Eye Concealer

I love a good concealer! Revlon makes great makeup, so I trusted that this concealer would be good quality and I was right! It comes in pen form, which I especially like from a portability perspective, and is a thick creamy consistency. You twist the bottom to distribute product to the sponge applicator head and you don’t need a lot to cover both eyes. It blends really well and also brightens the area slightly, always a bonus! I have used it alone and with other concealers and in both cases, it provides decent coverage and does not crease easily after application. This is a great item to keep in your handbag for quick makeup application and touch-ups!

Final Thoughts

TK Maxx did me proud on this occasion! I love everything I bought and paid a lot less than I would have in normal high street stores! If you have never thought of buying beauty products from TK Maxx before, you really should have a look! They also carry amazing skin, body and hair care ranges from well-known brands so why not pop to your local brand and treat yourself?

Another Post, Another Haul! My Nyx Mix Review!

Hi, there beauty fans!

How is 2018 going for you so far? If you read my new year post you will know that my year started in a very unexpected way! But, it’s also been a great time to reflect and enjoy the Spring lead up!  Naturally, I am also loving the new makeup releases of which there have been many so far! The best thing about the changing seasons is the ability to mix up your makeup routine!

That being said, this post is about some products I bought late last year! If you read my posts, you know I am terrible for splurging on beauty and makeup hauls and this one is no different! In this haul, I focused on Nyx Professional Makeup items but also threw a few other greats in which are worth sharing with you!

So, what was in this makeup haul?

This haul was a mixed bag of different products, all good in their own right! Here’s what I bought:

  • The Nyx Sweet Cheeks Blush Palette
  • A Nyx Love Contours All Palette
  • Maybelline’s Master Blush Colour and Highlighting Palette
  • 2 Nyx Vivid Brights Liquid Eyeliners in Vivid Delight (Orange) and Vivid Blossom (Lilac)
  • Charlotte Tilbury’s Lipstick in Pillow Talk
  • Kat Von D’s Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II
  • The Nyx Control Freak Eyebrow Gel
  • The Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Filler Brow Mascara
  • The Maybelline Eyebrow Pencil
  • Charlotte Tilbury’s Brow Lift
  • Maybelline’s Colossal Volume Express Mascara

Were they all worth it?

The Nyx Blusher Palette

As soon as I saw the colours in this palette, I knew I wanted it! There is such a lovely mix of colours and textures, suitable for everyone! The blushers are mainly matte but there are a couple of shimmery ones which could also be used as highlighters. The colour payoff is brilliant, as can be seen from the swatches and they can be built up or toned down depending on the look you want. Each blusher is reasonably soft and buttery in texture making them easy to blend into the skin and once applied none of them fades or move around the skin. I love this palette and it’s ideal for use all year round!

The Nyx Contour Palette

Prior to buying this palette, I was not a massive contour fan. It has taken me a while to warm to the contouring trend! However, it is something I do more often now, and this palette is perfect for it! In the palette, there are not only contouring and highlighting shades but also 12  eyeshadows in various neutral tones for eye contouring and defining and eyebrow powders! There is something for every contour fanatic in this selection and, as with the blushers, everything is pigmented and smooth in texture. The colours should work on most skin tones and apply beautifully with excellent longevity. This palette is a must for the neutrals and contour lovers out there!

Maybelline’s Blusher Palette

You’d think I would be content with the Nyx Blusher palette but when I saw this one from Maybelline, I fell in love with it! The selection of pink tones is gorgeous and there is also a highlighter included which compliments the other 3 colours. You can see from the swatches that the colours are vivid and a little goes a long way when applying them! All these shades will suit varying skin tones, last for hours without budging and have a lovely creamy texture.

The Nyx Liquid Eyeliners & Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Lipstick

If you follow me and my various blog posts, you will know that I love eye makeup and creating new and different eye looks. Having an assortment of coloured eyeliners in different textures is a big part of that! Nyx has created a full range of colourful eyeliners and I already had a few of them before buying these 2 colours.

Both the orange and the lilac shades are pigmented and just as easy to use as the other liners I already had, see the swatches below. The only downside to these eyeliners is that they can crack slightly after a few hours application and if you have layers of eyeshadow on the eyelid you will need to apply a couple of layers of the eyeliner to make the colour stand out opaque against the eyeshadows. However, those minor issues have not stopped me using the liners regularly and once applied they do last for a while without crumbling or flaking. If you love colourful makeup, you should definitely test these out!

As for Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick in Pillow Talk, you only need to read my Brand Focus post on her products to know I am a huge fan! This lipstick shade is the perfect Blushed Nude, designed to suit most skin tones and it also has a matching lip liner. Like her other lipsticks, this one is soft and creamy and applies opaque without drying out the lips. It is a matte shade and will last hours without any need to touch up. It also looks beautiful with a lip topper or gloss! Check out the swatch below.

Kat Von D’s Liquid Lipstick

Kat Von D is one of my new favourite brands! Her makeup ranges are amazing, and I am steadily building a mixture of her products! This liquid lipstick is a lovely autumn colour, not quite red, brown or pink – see the swatch! It glides onto the lips well and dries matte without drying the lips. It can be worn alone or under a lip gloss or topper and will last hours without fading, cracking or smudging! I have a couple of her liquid lipsticks now but love this one for an everyday natural look!

The Eyebrow Items

I am a big fan of sharp, defined yet natural-looking eyebrows so having good quality eyebrow products is a must. I bought all of these items to test out and each one has a positive quality! The Maybelline eyebrow gel in dark brown and pencil are both great for subtly defining and taming the eyebrows, but the pencil does run out pretty quickly so is not very cost effective and the gel needs to be applied carefully to avoid excessive product build up! That being said, once you master them they will allow you to create a defined natural brow.

The Nyx Control Freak Eyebrow gel is a clear gel which is designed to comb through the eyebrows and set the hairs in place. In all honesty, this gel was no better than any other setting gel I have tried and on some days, it controlled my eyebrows well and on others, not so much! However, as it is a clear gel it is marginally easier to apply than the Maybelline version and there is no need to worry about over darkening the eyebrows!

My favourite eyebrow product was the Charlotte Tilbury Eyebrow Shaper. This waxy pencil comes with a spoolie at one end and an under-brow highlighter tucked into the middle of the pen shaft! It has a tapered tip which allows for precise lining and applies softly to ensure a natural look whilst also adding colour to any sparse areas. The highlighter is a soft, slightly shimmery pale pink-cream colour which is applied through a small sponge under the arch of the brow. The end result once you have brushed through the brows with the spoolie is a perfectly shaped brow!

MAYBELLINE’S COLOSSAL VOLUME EXPRESS MASCARA

Finally, I bought the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express mascara. I tend not to buy mascaras much now as I love wearing false eyelashes but every now and then I like to just use my own lashes for a more subtle and natural look. When I am in that mood, I need a good mascara to make the most of my own lashes and this mascara is excellent! It has a full, dense brush head which coats all the lashes well without clogging and also separates, lengthens and volumizes! My own lashes look full and fluttery after using this mascara and there is no fallout or crumbling after hours of wear. It also removes easily with a makeup remover wipe or similar product!

Final Thoughts?

All in all, I love everything I bought in this haul! There are some standout items which I will definitely replenish in the future such as the Charlotte Tilbury Eye Shaper and the palettes, but I would positively rate most of the products and suggest you try some of them to see what you like for yourself. All the brands produce good quality makeup so if you have not dabbled with them yet, you really should!

I hope you enjoyed reading this post! Let me know your favourite Nyx products in the comments! Stay tuned for future posts and don’t forget to like, share and follow!

My IMATS & Beauty UK Makeup Hauls!

Hi there, beauty lovers!

I hope you’re enjoying the festive build up! I can’t believe its mid-November already – I’m already planning Christmas activities and my decorations are going up as we speak! Christmas is my favourite time of year, everyone is that bit happier and everything is sparkling and lit up! It’s also the time for glittery makeup looks, holiday gift sets and limited edition beauty releases!

However, I’m not going to post about those things just yet….this post is my review of the long-awaited IMATS and Beauty UK hauls! I have been trying to write this post for weeks! If you keep up to date on my blog, you will know I wrote 2 posts about IMATS and the Beauty UK Show. You will also know that I bought some lovely makeup and beauty items from both! In this post I tell you all about them – there are so many great items so keep reading!

So, What did I buy?

Look at all these amazing products!  I was like a kid in a candy store when I got home from both shows and unpacked everything! Working from the top left here’s what I purchased:

  • Inglot Body Sparkles & Liquid Eye Liner
  • Thalia Eye Glitters
  • Lit Cosmetics Eye Glitters
  • Naked Cosmetics Loose Pigments
  • Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Eye Glitter
  • Danessa Myricks Pigment & Highlighting Powder
  • Lime Crime Diamond Crusher
  • Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip
  • LA Splash Liquid Lipstick
  • AJ Crimson Liquid Lipstick
  • Provoc Eye and Lip Pencils
  • Makeup Atelier Concealer
  • Louise Young Blusher
  • Lash Unlimited Lashes
  • Velour Lashes
  • Louise Young Brushes
  • Hakuhodo Brushes
  • Bdellium Brushes

The Inglot Products

These Body Sparkles are awesome! The powder is super fine and highly pigmented, as can be seen from the swatches. They can be used on the face and body and can be applied as they are or with a mixing medium to create a more liquid metal/foiled result! They are the perfect Christmas addition to any makeup kit!

The Inglot liquid eyeliner is equally gorgeous! Its quite a loose liquid in a rose gold colour with a slight sparkle. It’s reasonably easy to apply using the applicator wand but can also be used with an eyeliner brush for a different effect. Once it has dried, it has a lovely shine and catches the light beautifully. See the swatch below to see what I mean!

The Thalia Glitters

These eye glitters are beautiful! It is difficult to capture in the photos but the iridescent sparkle is amazing – they catch the light so well! The glitter is slightly coarse to the touch but the texture is still fine and applies well with a glitter glue. Once applied, it doesn’t move and can be built up or left sheer – check out the swatches below.

Lit Cosmetics Glitters

I always wanted to try Lit Cosmetics so when I saw these at the Beauty UK Show I knew I had to buy them! These glitters are almost like a pigment, they are smooth and almost buttery to the touch but the glitter is no less impressive. They can be applied with and without glue and can also be mixed with a mixing medium for an even more intense result! For swatches, see below.

Naked Cosmetics Pigments

These pigments are so pretty! There were so many colours to pick from at the IMATS show but I loved these shades of mermaid blues and greens! The pigments can be used dry or with water for a deeper colour payoff and you can see from the photos that the texture is very fine and almost silky to the touch. They also provide a very subtle silver sparkle on application which just adds to the final result!

The Obsessive Compulsive Glitter

This glitter is the most coarse of all the glitters I purchased but just as gorgeous. It applies with a glitter glue and results in a multi-tonal bronze effect! It can be built up to full coverage or applied sparingly to create a more subtle light-catching look. Its a perfect choice for Christmas!

The Danessa Myricks Items

Before the IMATS show, I have never seen or heard of Danessa Myricks but I am very glad I have now! Her makeup is designed to be used for professional photography so it is exceptionally good quality and I decided to test one of the pigments and one of the highlighting powders. The pigment is silky smooth and glides onto the skin like a liquid metal! A mixing medium can be used to create just that! The colour is intense and doesn’t diminish even after hours of wear. Look at the swatch below!

The highlighter powder is one of many stunning powders! Its very fine and light, almost fluffy! It’s also very pigmented and delivers a high dose of shine! It can be used on the face and the body and can even be mixed with body lotion or foundation to give an all over glow! I absolutely love this powder and recommend trying her range as soon as you can!

Far left – Thalia glitters; top right – Danessa Myricks pigment; second right – Obsessive Compulsive glitter; bottom two – Lit Cosmetics glitters

Lime Crime’s Diamond Crusher

Lime Crime Diamond Crushers are amazing lip toppers – check out my post on lip toppers here! I have a number of them now and I picked this one due to the lovely pink gold colour. It can be worn alone and over other lip products and will dry down after application. The end result is a pretty iridescent layer which doesn’t dry out the lips and stays in place for hours!

The Beauty Bakerie Lip Whip

I had been curious about Beauty Bakerie makeup for a little while before this so when I eventually found it at IMATS I made sure I had a proper look! I decided to buy one of the lip whips as I had heard lots of good things about them! But, I have to be honest, after testing it a few times I found it to be one of my least favourite products. The liquid lipstick applies well and the colour is lovely but once it set, it dried my lips out very quickly and actually did not last that long. I am keen to try other Beauty Bakerie items but won’t bother buying other lip whips!

LA Splash Liquid Lipstick

This was another brand I had heard a lot about but never tried! There was a great selection of lipsticks at the Beauty UK Show and I decided to buy this particular one because the colour is so unusual! Its a deep olive green with a gold glint and I was instantly drawn to it! On application, it’s fully opaque and dries semi-matte but it does not dry out the lips. It has good staying power and is definitely a head turner!

The AJ Crimson Liquid Lipstick

This is a brand I have not seen anywhere since the IMATS show and had never heard of it before then. There were a number of different coloured liquid lipsticks and I picked this one because I have a love of burnt orange anything! The texture is light and smooth but very pigmented. After application, it sets in place and the finish is semi-metallic and opaque. It does dry the lips out very slightly after a while but this is a minor negative compared to the end result!

Check out the swatches:

Far right – Inglot eyeliner; second – Diamond Crusher; third – LA Splash liquid lipstick; fourth – Beauty Bakerie lip whip; fifth – AJ Crimson liquid lipstick and bottom – Danessa Myricks Highlighter powder

The Provoc Liners

These eye and lip liners are excellent! They come in a vast array of colours and can be interchanged so a lip liner can be an eyeliner and vice versa! I tested a whole host of shades but selected these to complete my already massive collection! They are very soft in texture and can be used all over the eyelid and lips as well as for liners. Once applied, they dry down within seconds and then they don’t smudge, bleed or fade. They can even be used as a base to glitter as long as the glitter is applied quickly! Check out the swatches:

The Louise Young Blusher & The Makeup Atelier Concealer

Louise Young is a great but relatively unknown brand. I have a number of her makeup brushes which are excellent and the blusher was the first makeup product I tried! It’s a lovely pink colour and very pigmented but on application, it provides a natural ‘rosy cheeks’ effect! Its a good shade for all skin tones.

The concealer by Makeup Atelier was a product I wanted to try for ages due to a YouTube endorsement by Wayne Goss! He considers it to be one of the best concealers on the market and now I have one I have to agree. The brand does not carry made shades as yet but I managed to find one that matched my skin tone. The texture is quite creamy and lightweight but the coverage is very good and blends like a dream! After application, it sets well and there is very little creasing. If you’re looking for an alternative concealer to the likes of Tarte Shape Tape and Nars Creamy Concealer, this is worth a look!

The Lashes & The Brushes

I love false eyelashes and I love good makeup brushes! Prior to these shows, I had not tried Velour Lashes or Lashes Unlimited but now I am hooked, especially with Velour. Their lashes are not cheap by any means but they are so fluffy, come in a variety of styles and apply easily! I can’t wait to buy more when I have some spare money! At the other end of the cost spectrum, Lashes Unlimited creates good quality designs for an affordable price. They are easy to apply, look lovely and provide a great alternative to the pricier lash companies without losing the results!

As for the makeup brushes, these are some of my most used brushes now! You can see I bought a variety of different types all for different purposes, from fine liners to blenders of varying size and those designed for the crease and outer corner. The brands are all synonymous with excellent quality and results, particularly the Hakuhodo brushes which are beautifully crafted and feel gorgeous on the skin! I have used them all repeatedly and they always provide amazing results, don’t shed any bristles even after cleaning and are easy to use.

Final Thoughts

And that’s my vast makeup haul from both shows! This post is much longer than other posts but I had to make sure I covered everything properly! Everything I bought bar the odd item was worth the money and lived up to or exceeded my expectations! I cannot wait for next year’s shows to see what other great brands and products I will discover – IMATS 2018 tickets are now on sale if you want to attend – I know I will be!

I hope you enjoyed reading my review and I’d love to know what you thought of some of the items and whether I have tempted you to try anything! Feel free to comment, like and share and of course subscribe if you don’t already!

Catch you soon!

The Glamour Beauty Festival 2017 – been there, done that and got the goody bag!

Hello, fellow beauty junkies!

I hope you are enjoying your weekends, today is my organisation day for the week ahead so I thought I would start with drafting my blog for this week! I am also hoping to prepare a few other posts ready for the coming week or two as I am going to be super busy and may not get time otherwise! Hopefully, I will have time to read some of your blogs as well!

The Glamour Beauty Festival

This time last week, I was recovering from my day in London at the Glamour Beauty Festival. I went on Saturday morning and attended the festival before enjoying a walk through London as I made my way back to Euston Station. Suffice it to say, I walked a good 8 miles and was exhausted by the time I got home, but it was a lovely day!

I found out about the festival in the Glamour magazine, which I occasionally buy if there are some good beauty buys and reviews in it. When I saw that they were holding a festival dedicated to beauty I obviously had to buy a ticket!

The Event

The first thing I would say is that it was not a cheap event. The festival was over a couple of days and they had split the days into morning sessions, afternoon sessions and full day sessions. The half days cost £45 and the full days cost £75. I decided to attend a morning session due to the cheaper price! Luckily you received the goody bag whichever ticket you bought, I’ll come back to this later!

The festival was held in the Saatchi Gallery in Sloane Square, which was a lovely venue. The format of the festival was as follows:

  • There were a handful of makeup, beauty and skincare brands in attendance each with their own display and workspace. They were spread over 2 floors. Here are some photos to show you what I mean:

  • Each brand was offering some free service to test their products, which you would need to queue for. Some of the brands were also selling their products whilst others were just showcasing them and hosting promotions on their websites and social media.
  • There were also mini cafe bars throughout the floors to keep you fed and watered and Glamour magazine was on the top floor providing the goody bags and subscription offers.

The Brands

The brands I specifically looked at were Estee Lauder, Marc Jacobs, Eylure, Laura Mercier and Elegant Touch. I wanted to have a look at Nars, Pixie and Fresh as well but the queues and crowds prevented me from getting close! There were also hair stylists at the festival from hair brands such as GHD but again the queues were so long you would have wasted too much time waiting for them. Bearing in mind my ticket only allowed my attendance from 9.30-1.30 I had to be frugal with my time!

Marc Jacobs

One of the highlights of the festival for me was having an eye makeover by Marc Jacobs. I love the makeup produced by this brand, particularly the eyeliners and luckily the queue was not horrendous when I found them so I managed to get to a makeup artist pretty fast! The makeup artist was lovely and very knowledgable about the brand and she used a couple of the new gel eyeliners they have released along with a purple mascara. I did not buy anything as I can always buy online but I loved the final eye look and would definitely recommend trying the makeup if you haven’t before.

Once I had gone through all the brand stands I went to collect my goody bag. I had already seen online some information about the products in the bag so I was really excited! The good bag did not disappoint, you received a substantial number of products worth almost £200! They were a good mix of makeup, skin care and hair care and a cross-section of high street to high-end brands. Here’s what you received:

Amazing right? I have barely tried anything yet but as I work through things I will post my reviews!

Would I attend the festival again?

So what did I think of the festival overall? To be honest, for the ticket prices, I was a little disappointed with the lack of brands in attendance. There were less than 20 present and trying to actually see products and speak to the representatives was a nightmare because there were so many people at each stand. This brings me to my next ‘con’ – the festival was primarily an event to try to test services, not to actually buy products and look at the ranges on offer. Because of this, you spent an inordinate amount of time in queues or trying to push through people just to see what the brands had brought with them, which wasn’t much. For me, that was frustrating and not really what I had attended for.

The best thing was the goody bag! I am glad I attended for that reason alone because there is so much in it to try, however, if they hold the festival again next year I will think carefully before buying a ticket as it is a long way to go and expensive just to stand in queues!

As an aside, after the festival, I had a lovely afternoon in London and did manage to look in some other makeup stores to test other products. In Space NK I was able to check out the new Cover FX highlighter drops:

20170311_121352

I’ve since ordered both online! I also walked through Hyde Park which was lovely and stopped to look over the lake because the view was so pretty:

All in all, it was a great day out so I am glad I made the effort to go, but if it weren’t for the goody bag and the eye makeover I don’t think I would have found the festival very enjoyable. I think the idea of a beauty festival is excellent and it would no doubt attract a lot of visitors but the format of this one was not to my liking. Compared to the Professional Beauty Show I attended (see my previous blog on this event!) this festival was a bit of a letdown but hopefully they will improve on it next year!

I hope you found this event review useful, do leave any comments or questions in the comment box below! I will be attending IMATS in London and the Beauty UK show in Birmingham, both in May, so it will be interesting to see how they compare! Don’t forget to subscribe and follow me for more fun reviews and beauty info!

My MUA Luxe Makeup Haul!

Hello, fellow makeup lovers!

I hope you all had a great weekend and Monday has been kind to you! My weekend was pretty good, I had a slight issue with my car exhaust falling off my car but I managed to sort it! I also spent time editing lots of lovely makeup and haul photos to share on my blog and my Instagram so watch out for those in the coming weeks!

My MUA Luxe haul

Recently I have spent a lot of time and money researching new products and makeup I have not tried. One of the brands that was appearing regularly was MUA Luxe. I have bought the odd thing from the brand but never really paid any attention to it….until the new collection came out! There are some gorgeous palettes, highlighters and liquid lipsticks so I thought I would order some of the new and recent collection to try. This is what I ordered in my haul:

From the top, we have 5 of the liquid lipsticks in a collection called Hollywood Kiss. There are 2 other collections as well but I loved this one because the colours will be wearable all year-long.

Here are the swatches:

As you can see, they are all really pigmented and will work on any skin tone and through every season! They are quite ‘wet’ in texture and have a shine as opposed to a matte finish. I think this makes a nice change to all the matte liquid lipsticks on the high street!

The Highlighters

Next, in my haul, I bought the Strobe and Glow Highlighter in Pink Lustre. There is another option too but I decided to try this one as the pink colour is unusual and I have so many golden or champagne toned highlighters that I thought I would try something different. It comes in two parts:

It is hard to tell its a pink shade due to the lighting in my photo but its a really pretty pale pink colour. The bottom layer is a cream highlighter and the top is the powder equivalent. You can wear them on their own or layer them for a more strobe-like effect. I have used this highlighter in one of my recent looks and I have to say it looked really lovely on my skin tone! I layered it to see the difference that made and it’s amazing – you can keep it more natural or build it up and it works perfectly.

As if one highlighter wasn’t enough, I decided to buy another from the range called Undress your Skin highlighting powder in the shade Pearlescent Sheen. There are 9 choices in all so you are spoilt for choice. I chose this one because it has a pale blue tinge to it, which again is something new:

I tried several times to catch the blue tinge in my photo but it’s very tricky! However, when I tested it in one of my looks there is a definite blue coming through and it’s gorgeous! It is easy to intensify if you want to but its pigmented on a couple of light swipes.

The Palettes

Finally, I bought 2 of the palettes in my haul. This was a hard choice as MUA Luxe has brought out a number of different palettes with various colour combinations! I am a sucker for eyeshadow palettes as I love creating new eye looks, but I had to be strict with myself as I am running out of space to store them all! So, I decided on Elysium Shadows and Elysium Elements. I chose these 2 because I love using blue in my looks and didn’t already have a good blue shadow range and the Elements palette is a beautiful combination of delicate pastel colours, unlike any other palette I have. Here’s a close up:

I have not used the Elysium Shadows palette yet but I have used the Elysium Elements and it is so pretty! All the colours are really pigmented and work well in any combination. They blend well too and there’s minimal fallout. I can’t wait to use the blue shades!

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am loving all my MUA Luxe haul purchases! I think the quality of the brand is very good considering how inexpensive everything is! I will definitely be watching out for more MUA Luxe releases in the future and love the fact it is easily accessible in Superdrug too! There aren’t swatches for everything in this blog but if you would like me to swatch anything leave me a comment below and your Instagram name and I will post a photo!

I hope you liked this review. If you don’t already follow or subscribe to my blog I would love it if you did!

Thanks for stopping by!
